FUNCTIONAL, ENERGY EFFICIENT AND AESTHETICAL REFURBISHMENT OF ALEXANDER BEACH LUXURY HOTEL AND CONVENTION CENTER (5*)

The project concers the redesign of the original hotel complex which is located in Alexandroupoli. The old age of the original facilities and the needs of contemporary hotels stipulated the need to rearrange, remodel and modernize the old rooms, renovate the façades at the areas of intervention and create a spa and small gym.

The core of the hotel complex where the interventions were realized, comprises of a ground-floor guest room wing (Building C), a two-story guest room wing (Bulding B), a two-story guestroom wing (Building A) which rises above the auxiliary spaces of the complex, and an underground storage area located in the newer guestroom wing, where the new spa was laid out. The rooms were enlarged and remodeled. This resulted in a contemporary and hospitable style composed of natural materials and warm colors. The bathrooms were designed as integral parts of the guest rooms, separated by glazed partitions. The furnishings and fixtures combined with the bespoke lighting design lend the rooms a particularly cosmopolitan flair.

The original design of the façades necessitated their rearrangement in order to satisfy contemporary aesthetic requirements through the use of new materials which accentuate and enrich the entire complex. The openings in the existing building were enlarged and shading was provided by adding wooden pergolas. The solid parts of the building were clad with wood siding. The redesign of the landscape created private and communal areas with wood decking, swimming pools, white-pebble zones and plants. Trees, shrubs and seasonal were planted in the surrounding spaces.

Special emphasis was placed on the design of the new spa, which includes a small gym. It was conceived and constructed with state-of-the-art specifications in order to become a unique space for relaxation and well-being.
