DEZEEN AWARDS 2020 – LONGLISTED
The project aimed to regenerate and upgrade Thessaloniki’s monumental axis of Roman era, to pay homage to this heritage and to bestow pride of place to the prominent archaeological sites of the area.
At the same time the study unified the fragmented urban area and enhanced its functionality and aesthetics. Urban space is distinguished by its use of continuous curves and tapering paths which expand into and contrast with wider rest areas. Neatly scattered green spaces serve to further unify the urban site.
The result was the creation of an exemplary single urban hub facing the iconic sea front.
Project was Longlisted in Dezeen Awards 2020.
